Meet Our Staff
Steven E. Brown
As a former postal worker and long-time resident of the Washington D.C. area, Steven E. Brown is personally familiar with the experiences of federal employees. In over 30 years of independent law practice, he has represented and counseled thousands of federal employees.
His background as a personal injury litigation attorney has also helped him understand the special needs of disabled individuals.
He and his staff, which includes two other experienced attorneys, make every effort to provide timely and thorough legal representation for all of their clients.

Daniel Goodkin
Dan joined the law firm of Steven E. Brown in January, 2004. He is a member of the California State Bar, and earned his Juris Doctor from Loyola University in 1996. He has a BA from UCLA. Before becoming a lawyer, Dan was a law clerk for our office.
Dan’s prior experience includes being Director of Business Development and Business Affairs for a web-based music licensing startup, as well as providing computer solutions for medical and legal professionals.
Dan is a native of Southern California, and has lived here his whole life, with the exception of a few years in England, where he attended schools in Reading and Blackpool. Dan is active in the community, using his Advanced Class FCC License, call sign KA6VSS, to help the Sheriff’s Department with emergency communications – he was accepted as member of the LA County Disaster Communications Service at age 10, the youngest person to ever be accepted to that organization. He has received commendations from the Sheriff’s department for his assistance during brush fires and other emergencies. His hobbies include Kung Fu, computer games, ice hockey and soccer. He lives in Agoura Hills with his wife Elissa, their two cats, and two dogs.

Brett Blumstein
Brett joined the law firm of Steven E. Brown PLC in May of 2007. He is a member of the California State Bar, and earned his Juris Doctor from Loyola University in 2006. Additionally, he has a BA from UC Irvine. Brett has previously worked as a law clerk for our offices throughout law school.
Brett was born and raised in Southern California. He enjoys playing basketball, reading, and learning about history.

Vicky Camacho
Vicky is a Paralegal and Notary Public. She worked for the federal government for 10 years performing work related to several functions including human resources, workers’ compensation, and EEO.
In 1989 she obtained her certification as a Workers’ Compensation Specialist through the Office of Workers Compensation Programs in Washington, DC.In 1995, she attended Oxnard College for legal studies and accounting. In 1997, she started working for a private practice attorney as a Paralegal. Joining Mr. Brown in August 2007, Vicky has brought with her many years of experience in workers’ compensation and human resources, as well as 15 years of legal experience in the areas of civil litigation, construction defect, auto accidents, and insurance coverage.
She is a registered volunteer for the Ventura County Superior Court. Vicky enjoys spending time with family and friends.

Claudia Alcala
Claudia is a currently pursuing her paralegal studies at Oxnard College. Claudia is an alumni of Channel Islands High School and grew up in Ventura. She joined Mr. Brown’s firm in August 2008. Claudia brings with her many years of experience in State Workers’ Compensation, Social Security Disability and personal injury. She is a volunteer for Special Olympics of Ventura County and AYSO. Claudia enjoys spending time with her son, family and friends.

Erika Bauer
Erika is a southern California native. She has a college degree from a nearby college. Before joining Steven Brown’s law office in April of 2007, she had been involved with her family’s agricultural operation. She is now enjoying an exciting new change of profession where she is not only learning a fascinating new field, but is part of a team that is able to help those in need. Erika enjoys spending time with her daughter and friends.
